To take steps pertaining to soccer drills for kids, be very alert and calculative. It’s very important for you know the kid’s psychology. Talk to the kids in a manner that they find most suitable. But sadly, most coaches are not ready to adapt to this. They fail to realize that there is a distinction in coaching kids and coaching grown-up players.

1. To many coaches, their job appears to be very simple. They don’t arrange the drills, refuse to plan their sessions, and are always late in getting to the field. Put together all kinds of equipments which you would need to accomplish the drills.

It’s sad to know that people fail to appreciate the importance of warming up in kids soccer drills. As a coach, I just cannot emphasize enough that warming up before sessions is not just mandatory but also a great way to kick start your training sessions. In youth soccer drills, coaches fail to take this aspect into consideration. This has an end result in terms of injuries to players when in the practice sessions.

This article gives you some nice tips on how to get the team warmed up. The team should be guided to use such body movements that have the effect of warming up all muscles. This is by far the best way to activate all the body parts. Warming up in haste could cause cramping or stiffness of the body muscles.

Tip 1: Have the players jog for about 5-7 minutes initially. It is advocated that players begin printing only after a light jogging. The pulse rate must get to 120 beats per minute in this. However, slow progress is the key. This should be followed by players moving their legs backward and forward for approximately 10 minutes each. Finally, over 20 yards, make them stretch actively.

Tip 2: Having said that, do remember that even this active stretching over 20 yards comes with some warm up drills of its own. For example, have your players skip back and forth. Teach the players cross stepping as well. High-knee carioca can also be taught to players. These must be carried out just like sprinting.

In soccer drills for kids, an extremely helpful warm up drill is backward running. Yet, the correct method of doing it is to rise up the heels to the butt. It’s actually tough to practice it like this but there’s no choice as it’s the single most and right way of doing it.

These result in giving an extra edge to the skipping exercises. You can also make them cross-over skip. After that, have the players do the long shuffles along with twists halfway. Make them practice forward and backward leg swings. It’s a very efficient activity and helps in toning the body. High leg forwards and backward is just as efficient in toning the body.

Tip 4: Stretching should be adequate and correctly executed. For the legs, stretch hinging works the best. Guarantee that all kids work out their hamstring, groin, calf muscles, and quadriceps without missing any of these. The players not only avoid injuries but also get to increase their muscle range by stretching.

Also ensure that in soccer drills for youth, kids are discouraged from overdoing anything. The kids may get injured needlessly because of this, as they tend to do so only in over excitement.
